WELCOME TO DEPARTMENT OF OMFP & MICROBIOLOGY

Oral Pathology is a foundation subject that ties basic sciences with clinical dentistry and medicine. Clinical dentistry is largely based on the foundation of study of Dental anatomy and histology.

The Department of Oral Pathology is situated in the Third floor of the dental college housing the state of the art equipment in the field of academics and to initiate research.
The undergraduate program was established in the year 2002 and the Postgraduate course started from the year 2012.
The practice of oral pathology includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations.
The service averages 900 new cases each year and in the majority of cases, reports are issued within 4 days following the receipt of the specimen.
Medical and dental professionals can have confidence in the accuracy and promptness of the consultative and diagnostic services provided by the department.

SERVICES BY THE DEPARTMENT

CLINICAL FOCUS

The department efficiently provides cytopathological and histopathological reports of oral and para-oral structures for premalignant and malignant lesions, soft tissue tumors, odontogenic cysts and tumors.
We also diagnose oral counterpart of systemic lesions such as oral manifestations of blood dyscrasias, metabolic disorders and dermatological lesions.
The department also participates in the various camps undertaken by the Institution in and around Sriganganagar.

CONFERENCES ORGANISED

The department has organized various interactive sessions. We had conducted a program on Forensic odontology – Perspectives & Practices in 2015.
We successfully completed a CDE program on various aspects of oral cancer in collaboration with Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, SDCRI.
We are also keen to initiate the Tele-Oral pathology program in our state.
